78 Tarot FAQ

  1. How can I work with you and become an artist in your decks?

We love working with new artists. Especially in a world where copyright issues and AI threaten so many of our friends and heroes. But we cannot work with everyone. If you’re interested in working with us, please submit a link to your online portfolio by emailing artdirector@78tarot.cards and info@78tarot.cards (Best to send to both in case you hit a spam filter for one of the emails).

Please do not take it as an insult if you do not receive a response straight away. Our art directors literally receive hundreds of emails at times, especially when we announce a new theme, so they cannot confirm receipt of every one. ALL artist portfolios are kept on file, so even if we believe you are not the “best fit” for a current theme, we may contact you for a future deck where your style of art will fit perfectly!

  2. You host card draws on your Instagram, do you offer card readings?

Our writer, Trish is a tarot reader, but 78 Tarot itself does not offer tarot readings. You can always contact Trish to book a reading, and she offers readings with our decks.

  3. Why do you sell decks with a PDF guidebook by default?

When we started thinking of our 2020 Ecological deck, it made us think about how much paper and card is used to create tarot decks. We love tarot, and think the decks are worth the paper, but one step we can take is to make our guidebooks digital by default. For our fans who are tarot collectors, we produce a smaller number of tarot guidebooks to ensure they have a luxe limited edition experience.

  4. How can I work with you as a retailer? I want to sell your decks…

We love retailers! We are on a quest to find retailers across the globe to lower shipping and import fees for our customers. So please check out our retail section and contact Trish at writer@78tarot.cards to discuss it more.

  5. How can I get your decks?

We have an Etsy store, you can buy them on this site, or we have a selection of retailers already…find their details here.

  6. Why are you moving to Backerkit?

Because Kickstarter has not done enough in their protection of artists in the AI situation. Backerkit does not allow AI projects, so our projects, are all moving to Backerkit. We hope you join us!

  7. What is the estimated production of a 78 Tarot deck after crowdfunding ends?

With Kickstarter it took 2-3 weeks for funds to arrive (we expect it will be roughly the same with Backerkit) and then we can pay our printer and our artists. We aim to have a prototype done before the campaign, and that means the printer has a copy of the files already. So once they’ve been paid for the project, it’s all guns blazing. Still this usually takes months including shipping time, so we add an estimated arrival date to our campaigns.

  8. Why the larger format cards?

We have wondered about doing standard tarot sized cards for years. Our first deck was standard tarot size. But the art seemed “squished” so we chose to do larger format cards for our future decks. And a lot of our fans and customers love it - like a mini gallery in your hand!

We have introduced mini decks for those who find the larger decks a bit much to shuffle. And we never say never on the standard tarot cards!
